In addition to that, GESM offers a Cambridge Curriculum and IGCSE, and it is an IB World School with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and the Primary Years Programme.

As an independent private school on the Eurocampus in Parañaque City, Metro Manila, Philippines, GESM provides education in German and English for children from kindergarten up to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

History

It was founded as "Jose-Rizal Schule" in honor of the Philippine national hero Jose Rizal in 1980. It has been recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, now the Department of Education.

In 1992, the former Jose-Rizal Schule and the École Française de Manille united to form the Eurocampus Manila, the first of its kind worldwide.

Organization

The German European School Manila has two streams: the German Stream, leading to official German exams after the 9th and 10th grades, and an International Stream, starting with the PYP in Primary and going on with the Cambridge (Pearson) IGCSE-programme in Secondary.

Both sections lead to the IB Diploma Programme in classes 11 and 12 where both branches unite, offering students the option to foster their German language skills in special courses or in one ore more subjects like Biology, History, Mathematics and Chemistry where tuition is offered in German.

With over 40 nationalities on the campus, GESM provides not only a highly international environment but offers transition to any German and international school and university.

With its multicultural character in an environment of more than three languages taught at mother tongue level, the school describes itself as offering a unique opportunity to prepare students to be qualified and responsible members in a global community.

The school is recognized and supported financially and in personnel by the German government and follows the German G8-curriculum, the IGCSE and the IB programmes. The headmaster is installed by the Board of the school and the German Foreign School authorities (ZfA).
