Homecoming is an upcoming drama television series that is set to premiere on Amazon Video.
The series was created by Sam Esmail who is also set to write, direct, and produce the series as well.
Premise
Homecoming is a "is a psychological thriller that centers on Heidi (Roberts), a caseworker at a secret government facility, and a soldier (James) eager to rejoin civilian life."[1]

Production
Development
In December 2016, it was announced that Universal Cable Productions had won the rights to Gimlet Media's podcast Homecoming for producer Sam Esmail to develop as a television series. They managed to outbid other interested parties including Sony Television for Michelle MacLaren, 20th Century Fox Television for Matt Reeves and Michael De Luca, and TriStar Pictures for George Clooney and his Smoke House Pictures as a feature film.[5]
Casting
In June 2017, it was announced that Julia Roberts was in talks for the series' female lead.[2] On November 8, 2017, it was announced that Stephan James was cast in the series' male lead.[3] Later that month, Bobby Cannavale joined the cast.[4]
Filming
Filming is slated to begin in Los Angeles in April 2018.[4][6]
