Knight's & Magic (Japanese: ナイツ&マジック, Hepburn: Naitsu to Majikku) is a Japanese light novel series written by Hisago Amazake-no and illustrated by Kurogin. The series originated as a web novel before being picked up for print publication by Shufunotomo. A manga adaptation by Takuji Katō is published by Square Enix, and an anime television series adaptation began airing in July 2017.
Summary
Knight's & Magic is set in a world where medieval knights use giant robots called Silhouette Knights to fight against demon beasts, magical ravenous animals that devour everything on sight. The protagonist is Tsubasa Kurata, a mecha otaku from Japan who gets killed in a car accident. Tsubasa is reincarnated in this new parallel world as Ernesti "Eru" Echevallia, a boy born into a noble family. Tsubasa's previous otaku memories inspire Ernesti into creating his own Silhouette Knight in order to defend his kingdom.

- The main protagonist. Also known as Eru, he is a boy obsessed with Silhouette Knights since childhood and wants to create his own Silhouette Knight in order to protect his kingdom. Because of his short stature and androgynous looks, he often gets confused for a girl. Thanks to his past life, he is a genius inventor that has created new inventions like a Gunblade-like magic rod that combines a sword and magic rod into one weapon.
- Adeltroot Alter (アデルトルート・オルター, Aderutorūto Orutā)
- Voiced by: Ayaka Ōhashi[2] (Japanese); Jeannie Tirado (English)[3]
- Also known as Addy, she is one of Eru's childhood friends. she and her brother learned magic from him. She is very fond of Ernesti and loves to hug him.
- Akidd Alter (アーキッド・オルター, Ākiddo Orutā)
- Voiced by: Shinsuke Sugawara[2] (Japanese); Stephen Fu (English)[3]
- Also known as "Kid", he is Adel's brother and another of Eru's childhood friend who also learn magic from him. Due to him and sister being illegitimate children of Marquis Serrati and his mistress, he does not get along with his father and his legal family, especially his older-half brother Baltsar who despises them as the latter fears their father might legitimate them and make Kid his heir.

- Eru's senior and considered the top Knight Runner in the school.

- Another of Eru's seniors and a Knight Runner. He is rather arrogant but after running away during a fight against a behemoth, he changes his behavior and becomes more responsible.

- Another of Eru's seniors and a Knight Runner. She is filled with a determination to win.

- A dwarf boy who wants to become a knight smith and a friend of Eru.

- Eru's original incarnation in Japan. Kurata was an otaku obsessed with robots, which helps explain Eru's own interest in Silhouette Knights. He is killed in a car crash and reincarnated as Ernesti in the new world, starting the story in the first place.

Web novel
Hisago Amazake-no began publishing the series as a web novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website on October 16, 2010.[6][7] As of September 22, 2016, seven novels have been published, comprising a total of 107 chapters.[7]
Light novel
Publisher Shufunotomo acquired the series for print publication, and published the first volume with illustrations by Kurogin under their Hero Bunko imprint in January 2013.[6][8] Six volumes have been released as of March 2016.

Manga
Artist Takuji Katō began serializing a manga adaptation of the novels in Square Enix's seinen manga magazine Young Gangan on April 15, 2016.[6][15] Crunchyroll will publish the manga digitally starting on July 5, 2017.[16]

Anime
An anime television series adaptation was announced via a wraparound band on the first volume of the manga on September 24, 2016.[18] The anime premiered on July 2, 2017 and is directed by Yusuke Yamamoto at 8-Bit, Michiko Yokote is writing the scripts and Masato Kōda is composing the music.[2] Fhána is performing the opening theme song "Hello!MyWorld!!" and Ayaka Ohashi is performing the ending theme song "You & I".[4] Crunchyroll is streaming the anime[19] and Funimation has licensed the series in North America.[20]
