Left Hanging is a collaborative album by Buckethead and Travis Dickerson, which was released in December 2010. The album consists of unreleased tracks from previous sessions by Dickerson and Buckethead and features other musicians, including Pinchface, Ramy Antoun and Bryan "Brain" Mantia

Background

The first announcement of the album was made by Dickerson at TDRS Music's forum (his label) on October 19, stating:

the first thing up will be the odds and ends CD I have talked about here before. I have 50 plus minutes of stuff that were either not used or never finished that we have added the missing parts or just dusted off and will make the CD available in a few weeks. It will includes tracks from the Population Override, Thanatopsis, The Dragons of Eden sessions and several others. I'll add a page with more info and samples soon.

Besides this album, Dickerson also announced three other albums; the first with his brother Lindy Dickerson, Paul Ill, and DJ Bonebrake, the second one with Vince DiCola, and the third is another project with DJ Bonebrake. The release dates for these albums are still to be disclosed.

On October 25, Dickerson posted an image of the album cover and announced more information to come in the next few days.

On October 29, the album was made available for pre-order, along with the Buckethead album Captain EO's Voyage, with a tentative release date of December 1. The pre-order also features samples from all the tracks from the album. Eventually the CD was released on November 29.

Notes

• Tracks 1 and 3 were recorded on the Dragons of Eden sessions.
• Track 2 was recorded in between the Thanatopsis and the Axiology sessions.
• Track 4 was recorded on the Population Override sessions.
• Track 5 was recorded before the Axiology sessions
• Track 6 was recorded in between the Population Override and the Gorgone sessions.
• According to the liner notes, track 7 was recorded purely for fun. Travis Dickerson states "Buckethead brought a beatbox to the studio one day and we plugged it in and hit play and jammed along. It was really just done for our own amusement... now yours". This may suggest the song was never intended to be included in any previous releases, but this isn't confirmed.
