Lab Rats is a Disney XD series that began airing on February 27, 2012. The show is about a teenager named Leo who lives with his mom and his step-dad and discovers three teens with bionic technology in the basement (lab) of his home. Lab Rats stars Billy Unger as Chase, Spencer Boldman as Adam, Kelli Berglund as Bree, Tyrel Jackson Williams as Leo, and Hal Sparks as Donald Davenport. In Season 3, the kids' bionic secret is revealed to the world and Leo is given bionics by Douglas, Davenport's brother. Hal Sparks has missed 10 episodes in the series.

After Adam, Bree and Chase disobey Davenport's orders, he decides it's best they are sent to a top secret facility in the Arctic. To replace them, Davenport creates robot versions of them to hang out with Leo, but the Davenports switch places with the robots. However, Tasha decides that she doesn't want Leo to hang out with robots (finding them creepy), and tells Donald to recycle the robots, not knowing they were the real kids. Once at the recycling plant, Adam, Bree and Chase use their bionics to avoid the various hazards, but must go back when Leo jumps in, hoping to rescue them, before Adam finds the "Off" button. When Davenport sees the kids risk their lives for each other, he decides to let Adam, Bree and Chase stay, as long as they can control their glitches.

On the Lab Rats' first day of school, all goes awry when Chase is confronted by a football player and his "Commando App" is triggered, transforming him into Spike, a loud-mouthed, insulting bully with an enormous temper. When Spike stands up to Principal Perry, the school principal, she puts the Lab Rats up against the football team to battle it out for the coveted cafeteria table. While the Lab Rats' bionics and Spike's aggression get them close to winning, Spike reverts to Chase at the last minute. While Chase tries to compute the perfect winning pass, he becomes confused by too many targets, causing them to lose. Meanwhile, Donald tries to work, but is constantly interrupted by Eddy.

Meanwhile, Tasha is given her big break at the TV news station when her boss asks her to cover the runaway train. She misses to see the train and fails the report. After Leo stops the train, Tasha finds out and she grounds Leo for two weeks in his room without television, video games and leaving the house, but Leo shortens his grounding to one week without Tasha knowing.

The Rats switch their bionic chips after Leo mentions it. Adam has Bree's speed; Bree has Chase's intelligence; and Chase has Adam's strength. Ignoring Davenport's warning, they go to school and Chase, not used to heat vision, accidentally traps Leo and Principal Perry inside the elevator during a drill as part of Emergency Preparedness Week at the school after Bree complains about the noise the fire alarm bell makes. Right before Chase traps them, Adam finds out that he has guacamole on his shirt and super speeds home to get tortilla chips for it. Chase is unable to do anything, so the Rats race home try to switch back their chips, but accidentally end up with Chase with Bree's speed, Bree with Adam's strength, and Adam with Chase's intelligence. Adam figures out that Bree can pull the elevator cables, lifting Leo and Principal Perry to safety. This works, but Davenport busts them, but is glad that they learn their lesson about chip switching. (In this episode Principal Perry's full name is revealed as Terry Cherry Perry.)

When Tasha and Davenport go on a vacation, it is up to Leo to make sure that nothing happens to his step-dad's prized possessions. Leo and the Lab Rats all promise to behave, but the second they're gone, Adam, Bree, and Chase start to fool around in the lab. At night, Leo turns on the LEMP, a "glitch machine", thinking it is a nightlight. In the morning, Leo wakes up to find that Adam was talking backwards and Chase could only see pixels. They tell Leo that Bree began running in the night and they didn't know where she went. Chase uses the computer to track Bree. They fix their glitches, Bree runs home by using a map, and Chase finds out he tracked one of Davenport's drones, forcing Eddy to steer the plane back. In the end, Davenport grounds Leo and the Rats.

When Tasha finds out about her son disobeying her rule and lying to her and Davenport, she grounds Leo and forbids him to watch television for a week, but Tasha later lets Leo watch the 'Pig Zombie' movie marathon and she extends Leo's grounding to a month. Davenport finds out about the jewelry box's disappearance, he punishes Adam, Bree and Chase by making them do every filthy, disgusting chore in the house without their bionics for a month.

While Davenport distracts Tasha, the trio is forced to wait in the RV-turned portable lab for their rocket launch window. Cooped up inside during their first summer vacation, Leo and the gang sneak out for a quick jaunt on the boardwalk but when they return the RV is gone. A policeman tells them he had the RV towed, and the lab rats perform to get money so they can get the RV back but land in jail when they realize they don't have a license to perform.

Meanwhile, Bree and Adam compete for a spot on the cheer leading squad. Adam wins, but when Stephanie makes fun of Bree, Adam quits, and him and Bree make their own cheer and shame Stephanie and the cheerleaders out of the court.

Leo brings along a tablet with Eddy's home system recording installed on it, showing that he did not break Marcus's guitar, but before he shows everyone Marcus confesses and finally tells everyone the truth. After a pretend breakdown, he then tells Leo to never tell on him again or else he's toast.

Adam, Bree, and Chase sneak out in Davenport’s new self-driving sports car. When Leo tries to stop them, his nemesis Marcus traps him inside the car and programs it to take him on a wild, high-speed ride bound for the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. In the end Marcus reveals to Leo he is bionic like Adam, Bree and Chase, and that if Leo tells any one, Marcus will tell the world about the Rats' secret, thus ending with them going away to a facility and Mr. Davenport ending up in The Big House.

Leo uses a robotic fly to mess with Bree, but he goes to far when he uses it to cheat off Bree's test. When Bree scolds Leo for copying, Principal Perry gives her an F for talking during a test. But when Principal Perry finds and keeps Leo's robotic fly, they accidentally releases a swarm of them which all paralyze the students, but the only way Bree will help is if Leo confesses he cheated. In the end Leo confessed and Bree created a tornado with her speed to capture the flies in the container. Meanwhile Adam and Chase must take care of dolls (which if you hurt you lose a point) for a class, but it ends up in a battle between them with them hurting each other's babies in various ways.

Leo wants to be a part of the team, but Davenport won't let him. When Davenport discovers a gas leak, he calls Adam, Bree and Chase, but they're stuck in detention with Principal Perry from missing school on their other missions. Leo goes instead, much to Davenport's dismay. Leo soon proves to be worthy when he saves the day. In the end Leo is officially a member of the team as someone who watches over the mission and gives ideas/advice. Meanwhile Davenport gives Eddy a body, which is broken on the mission.

Davenport, Adam, and Chase try to figure out what's wrong with her and how to undo it. Leo tries to make sure Bree doesn't reveal her bionics when she sneaks out to see her crush's art. At the art show, the side effects of the chemical Bree was exposed to manifest.

Caitlin confesses she has a crush on Adam and he becomes her boyfriend so that he can convince her she didn't see anything. When Caitlin and Adam are on their date Caitlin confesses she wears glasses so she didn't see anything. Adam, who doesn't like Caitlin gets mad, his anger activates his bionics and Bree tackles Caitlin to the ground both to protect her and to stop her from seeing Adam's heat vision. Later, Adam finally gets Caitlin off his back by showing her who her true crush is - Chase. However, her "true crush" doesn't really want to cooperate.

When he exposes his bionics to them, which freaks them out, they then tell the F.B.I., who come for Leo. He and Davenport have to get him back to his universe before Leo ends up in government lockdown.

Eddy gives Leo a device to interrupt Chase's bionics during the show, and Chase gets booed, causing his commando app to activate. Leo calms him down, but induces Spike again by insulting Chase. Leo tries using the device to shut Spike down, but ends up causing Spike's aggression levels to soar. Principal Perry then takes Spike down, reverting him to Chase. Meanwhile, Adam and Owen try to use butter as art, much to Bree's chagrin. Bree melts the statue, upsetting Owen. She makes it up to him by making him a new statue out of popcorn.

Leo escapes by outthinking Marcus with a move Chase used to beat Adam at arm wrestling. When Leo tries to bust Marcus, his phone is destroyed by the broken teleporter. Marcus' house appears normal except for a camera that Davenport suspiciously notices but doesn't mention. Marcus' dad reveals himself and says that Marcus has failed him and he will take care of Adam, Bree, Chase, and Davenport. Meanwhile, the Lab Rats try out a teleporter, but accidentally teleport Tasha to Fresno, and must fix the teleporter to bring her back.

When Adam sneezes, it triggers his heat vision and it burns a hole into the painting. The kids then try to cover it up by painting a new one that looks exactly like the original. All does not go according to plan when the FBI shows up and accuse Davenport of forging art and almost discover the lab looking for more forged art.

Meanwhile Leo is bragging he was invited to a party, but when Tasha runs for PTA president and embarrasses him, he worries he will be uninvited, so Bree uses her voice manipulation powers to make Tasha seem like she is making fun of Principal Perry, and Perry then decides to run against Tasha. In the end Perry wins the vote when Adam and Davenport crash the Monster Truck into the school.

Meanwhile, Leo wants the corner locker at school, only to find out it has been taken by Pierce's son, Clayton Harrington. Joey later leaves because Pierce and Clayton sabotage Davenport's car and says he doesn't work for cheaters. Davenport then fires his pit crew, who have been paid by Pierce to sabotage his car, and Adam, Bree, Chase and Leo become his new pit crew. Joey helps Davenport win as well. Davenport has a plan to stay behind and then slingshot past Pierce's car. In the end, Davenport wins, Pierce and Clayton move and Leo gets the corner locker.

After Davenport only seems to point out what they do wrong, the Lab Rats begin to get annoyed at Davenport. Meanwhile, Marcus disables Eddy and he and his dad, Donald's brother Douglas, capture Donald. Marcus and his dad show Donald trapped and try to lure them to their lair. Leo reveals that Marcus is also bionic with all their powers combined. They go to Marcus's secret house in their new mission suits. Marcus reveals that Leo was right about him all along and defeats Adam and Bree easily. Chase uses a new ability, levitation, to "beat" Marcus, who once again fools them. Douglas transports them into Donald's cage, and reveals that he is their father. Donald reveals that Douglas used to work with him, but got kicked out of the company for evil ideas. Douglas then built Marcus, an android who is dying fast. Douglas tries activating the Triton app, but Donald's block prevents him from doing so. Meanwhile, Leo arrives to rescue the gang with Eddy in tow in watch form after learning everything along the way with the Lab Rats via video. Marcus comes outside and electrocutes him, but luckily Leo survives and comes up with a new plan. Inside, Bree deactivates the cage's laser source, and Donald and Douglas fight to control the Triton app remote. Marcus takes on the Lab Rats, and defeats them. Just as Douglas grabs the remote, Leo arrives in the exoskeleton, making Douglas drop the remote. Donald then crushes it, while Leo fights Marcus, who easily knocks him down, and prepares to finally kill Leo. Adam gets angry and reveals a hidden ability, a bionic blast wave, which destroys the lair, as well as knocking out Bree, Chase, Leo, Donald, Douglas and Marcus. Douglas escapes from the room, but Marcus, furious, gets crushed by the rocks, and the Lab Rats quickly escape. Marcus' robotic hand rises from the rubble, but shuts down, confirming his death. Donald says he's proud of them, and Chase says that Donald is their real father. When Donald tries to set the alarm on the house, Leo remembers he left Eddy in watch form outside Marcus' house.

But Leo goes too far and accidentally erases 24 years instead of 24 hours, rendering him a teenager. When Chase tries to fix it, he wipes Davenport's memory again to 24 years as a four-and-a-half-year old. When Davenport discovers that Leo, Adam, Bree and Chase were using his memory erasing device after he returns to normal, he grounds Leo, Adam, Bree and Chase "forever".

Chase goes anyways, proving to Adam and Bree that he can complete a mission himself and ends up getting trapped by an avalanche. He is rescued by Douglas, who presents him with a tempting offer to work together. Then, Chase pretends to agree but freezes Douglas in the end. Meanwhile, Leo accidentally freezes Janelle and Tasha with Donald's freezing gun.

Meanwhile, Principal Perry stays in Davenport's mansion and makes Christmas miserable for Leo. In the end, she makes up for it by making a beautiful dinner for them to enjoy, although she makes Davenport pay for it.

They help him study for real this time, using Leo's pain as inspiration. In the end, they find out Trent is now their gym teacher. Meanwhile, Bree wants to look good in her yearbook photo so she goes to the hair salon. Adam accidentally burns off half of her hair, and they ask Donald to fix it. Adam puts too much hair growth cream on Bree. On school picture day, her bangs grow over her face when Perry takes a photo.

The Lab Rats are forced to expose their bionics to save Principal Perry's life. Meanwhile, Davenport is attacked by a mysterious hacker. The hacker later uses all of Davenport's credit cards and hacks his computer networks. When Davenport loses the house, The Lab Rats then run off to hide from the FBI with no telling where they are. It is later revealed that Douglas is the hacker and was released by a mysterious masked man. At the end of the episode, Douglas sets off explosives in the lab and Davenport and Leo escape but are stuck in the elevator with no way out.

On July 26, 2013, Disney XD renewed Lab Rats for a third season.[44] Season three premiered February 17, 2014 with a one-hour episode. Hal Sparks directed an episode this season.
