Kasai-Central Province was to become one of 25 proposed provinces specified in the country's Constitution (effective 18 February 2006). [1] Lulua District would be combined with the city of Kananga to form the new province, and Kananga would be the capital.[2] As of October 2010, this had not taken place.[3]
