Metástasis (meaning "metastasis" in Spanish) is an American, Spanish-language version of the U.S. crime drama Breaking Bad. It follows all five seasons of Breaking Bad, with very few exceptions and little additions not seen in the original version. A few minor scenes were shot differently than in Breaking Bad, but this does not change the storyline.

Development

After several days of speculation fueled by Univision,[2] on March 13, 2013, Sony confirmed that it would be making a Spanish-language remake of Breaking Bad.[3]

Sony Entertainment Television (Latin America) is working with Colombian producer Teleset on the series, which is set in Bogotá, Colombia, and its surroundings[1] and consists of 62 50-minute-long episodes. The directors are Andy Baiz and Andrés Biermann.[4]

Cast

The series stars Diego Trujillo as Walter Blanco (Walter White) and Roberto Urbina [es] as José Miguel Rosas (Jesse Pinkman), alongside Sandra Reyes as Cielo Blanco (Skyler White) and Julián Arango as Henry Navarro (Hank Schrader).[3][5] The equivalent of Saul Goodman is named Saúl Bueno.[6] Mexican actor Damián Alcázar played the show's equivalent of Tuco Salamanca.[1]

Distribution

As with many Latin American dramas, Metástasis is stripped in a telenovela format in which all of the episodes are aired daily over the course of less than a year.

In addition to local broadcasts, the Fox Latin America satellite channel will transmit the series across Latin America.[8]
