Mike Smith is an English musician. He is an arranger, composer, conductor, studio musician, and keyboardist, but specializes in saxophone.

Smith studied jazz and contemporary music at the Leeds College of Music, from which he graduated in 1988. He went on to Guildhall School of Music, to attain his post graduate certificate in jazz and rock.

He gained experience as a studio musician, playing and touring with Brand New Heavies[1] and Jamiroquai. As an arranger and conductor he also worked with Marc Almond, David Cassidy and Laura Michelle Kelly.

In the recent years Smith worked closely with Damon Albarn, contributing to Gorillaz, Blur's Think Tank, and Albarn's Mali Music Project. He has also played live with the band, circa 1999.

Smith is currently in the band The Ailerons, with Blur drummer Dave Rowntree.
