Pearland Regional Airport (ICAO: KLVJ, FAA LID: LVJ) is a public-use general aviation airport located in unincorporated Brazoria County, Texas, United States south of the city limits of Pearland and 17 miles (27 km) south of the central business district of Houston. The airport and FBO is managed by Texas Aviation Partners, LLC. It was formerly known as Clover Field.[2]
Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, Pearland Regional Airport is assigned LVJ by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA.[3]
Facilities and aircraft
Pearland Regional Airport covers an area of 450 acres (180 ha) which contains one runway designated 14/32 with a 4,313 x 75 ft (1315 x 23 m) concrete surface. For the 12-month period ending May 30, 2000, the airport had 87,125 aircraft operations, an average of 238 per day: 99.7% general aviation and 0.3% air taxi. At that time there were 175 aircraft based at this airport: 94% single-engine, 2% multi-engine and 4% helicopter.[1]
History
The airport was constructed in 1950 and is owned by Clover Acquisition Corporation.[4]
In April 2010, a small single-engine plane took off from Pearland Regional Airport and crashed shortly thereafter in Friendswood, about a mile south of the airport. The pilot was killed in the crash.[5]
