Moot Courts, Client Counselling and Other Activities
Students of SLCU have made their presence felt at national and international moot court and client counselling competitions. The current faculty has experience both in terms of participating in National and International Moot Court Competitions and training students to compete at these events and also judging international moot court competitions.
Apart from Moot Courts and Client Counselling events, the college also invites eminent persons from various disciplines to address the students. The following personalities have already addressed the students Justice Michael Saldanha, Former Chief Justice, High Court of Karnataka; Mr. Frederick Kaplan, Public Affairs Officer United States Consulate; the speech-writer to the Canadian Prime Minister; Mr. Rajeev Gowda, eminent politician and Professor at IIMB; Dr. Sandeep Shastri, Director of the International Academy for Creative Teaching (iACT) and Mr. Upendra Baxi. The college expects that these events will motivate those students intending to pursue careers that are considered unconventional and challenging.
SLCU was also the venue for the Judges round table conference on Intellectual Property Rights in 2007.
Infrastructure
The students of SLCU have access to three different library facilities namely the General Library; the specialized Law Library and the online library
The General Library offers students an excellent selection of books and magazines on all subjects. The back issues of the leading management journals, Indian as well as international, and an EBSCO database consisting of 110 Journals and a monthly online commentary on Indian Economy through the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy, are also available. The General Library and the Law library work from 9 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. Along with 62,000 books and 173 journals and periodicals, there is a good collection of audio and videotapes for use of faculty and students. The library information is already computerised, which facilitates the use of the library with regard to the availability of books and articles. The library provides photocopying facilities to the faculty and students. CCL also subscribes to law specific online databases like Westlaw, HeinOnline, LexisNexis, JSTOR and Manupatra.
Sports and games facilities are provided on campus in order to attain physical growth and nurture sportsman spirit among students. The college has separate courts for most major games like basketball, football, volleyball and hockey. Intra-college and inter-college matches give students ample opportunity to develop their talents and skills.[1]
