Shaw is a locality in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia.[2] In the 2021 census, Shaw had a population of 760 people.[1]
Geography
[edit]Shaw Road runs through from south to north, and North Townsville Road runs along the northern boundary.[3]
History
[edit]Shaw is situated in the traditional Wulgurukaba Aboriginal country.[4] The district was named on 27 July 1991.[2]
St Benedict's Catholic School opened with 163 students in January 2018.[5]
Demographics
[edit]In the 2016 census, Shaw had a population of 550 people.[6]
In the 2021 census, Shaw had a population of 760 people.[1]
Education
[edit]St Benedict's Catholic School is a Catholic primary (Prep-6) school at 890 Dalrymple Road (19°17′12″S 146°43′57″E / 19.2868°S 146.7325°E).[7][8]
There are no government schools in Shaw. The nearest government primary schools are Bohlevale State School in neighbouring Deeragun to the north-west and The Willows State School in neighbouring Kirwan to the south-west. The nearest government secondary schools are Northern Beaches State High School in Deeragun and Kirwan State High School in Kirwan.[9]
