January 9 - The first conjoined twin gray whales are found in Mexico.
January 14 - Communitary forces take several towns in Michoacán trying to expel the Knights Templar Cartel forces, and prompting the intervention of Mexican Army against them.
March 31 - The Mexican Navy kills Knights Templar Cartel high-ranking leader Enrique Plancarte Solís.
June 30 - Mexican Army soldiers kill 22 criminals in a shootout at a warehouse in the town of Tlatlaya.
July 7 - A 6.9 magnitude earthquake hits southern Mexico and Guatemala, causing at least three deaths.
October 8 - Mass graves found in Iguala, on October 5th reportedly contain the remains of 28 of the 43 missing students that clashed with the police during last September.
October 13 - Protesters in Guerrero attack the state government headquarters in the state capital Chilpancingo over the disappearance of 43 students.
October 31 - A Mexican judge releases a United States Marine Corps member detained for crossing the border with loaded guns eight months ago.
November 11 - A mob angry at the kidnapping and murder of 43 students torches the regional headquarters of Mexico's ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in Chilpancingo, Guerrero, and briefly holds a police commander hostage.
November 12 - Protesters attack the State Congress building in Mexico's Guerrero state setting alight five vehicles.
