... that despite being approved by the Chuuk Legislature, the 2022 Chuukese independence referendum has been delayed three times, including by the legislature itself?Source: "a joint session of the Chuuk State Legislature accepted the cpsc’s final report"/"The new law postpones Chuuk’s March 5, 2019 plebiscite"- ALT1:
... that the campaign for Chuukese independence was begun while the President of the entire Federated States of Micronesia was himself Chuukese?"Perhaps the most striking campaign of opposition to Chuuk secession was waged by President Mori, himself a native of Chuuk"

5x expanded by Chipmunkdavis (talk). Self-nominated at 13:33, 26 June 2020 (UTC).
- 5x expansion has been verified and no close paraphrasing was found. QPQ has been done. The first hook is probably the more interesting as the context behind ALT1 (the FSM president being against independence despite being Chuukese himself) isn't clear. Right now, the hook fact for ALT0 is spread throughout the article (outside the lead) and none of the sentences specifically focusing on the hook fact have a footnote. This will need to be addressed before this can be approved. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 11:09, 1 July 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review. I'm afraid if we need a single source for the entire Hook0 then I haven't found anything. I added a RNZ source and copyedited to explicitly mention a third delay in the prose, but I don't have a source covering both the third delay and the "including by the legislature itself". (I haven't even been able to find a source with a reason for the latest delay!) I would find the hook still interesting even without "including by the legislature itself", or it could be replaced with something like "since its original scheduling in 2015". CMD (talk) 13:00, 1 July 2020 (UTC)
- The hook can use multiple sources if necessary, the only requirement is that all of the sentences that discuss the hook fact have at least one footnote. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 14:05, 1 July 2020 (UTC)
- Does this suffice? CMD (talk) 14:18, 1 July 2020 (UTC)
- The references should have been duplicated after the sentences
In February 2020 the vote was postponed for a third time, being rescheduled for 2022
andCSL 14-23, which served to postpone the 5 March 2019 referendum to March 2020, was passed in October 2018 by the Chuuk State Legislature
, as these appear to be the sentences discussing the hook fact. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 14:41, 1 July 2020 (UTC)- I shifted the RNZ source to lie after the third time sentence. For the second part of the hook,
it was passed again on 6 December 2019 by both houses of the legislature, overriding the veto
is the relevant sentence as the October vote was vetoed and thus wasn't the vote that actually delayed the measure. CMD (talk) 14:48, 1 July 2020 (UTC)- The reference needs to be included in both sentences for DYK purposes as it's the "the Chuuk Legislature delayed it" part that's relevant. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 22:44, 1 July 2020 (UTC)
- Okay, done. CMD (talk) 00:59, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks. Everything looks to go now on the article's end, but after giving this some thought there might be a better way to reword ALT0 since it doesn't sound that hooky (the fact is hooky, but the wording not so much). Perhaps someone could take a look and see how to improve it? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 07:13, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5: why is this sitting around so long? ALT0 is okay the way it is, but it could be tightened this way:
- ALT0a:
... that the 2022 Chuukese independence referendum has been delayed three times, including by the legislature that approved it?Yoninah (talk) 19:19, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Chipmunkdavis: I prefer Yoninah's ALT0a, but to me it introduces the idea that the same legislature (without an election) approved and then delayed the referendum. Is this the case? Raymie (t • c) 03:47, 28 July 2020 (UTC)
- It wouldn't have been, they have elections every 2 years. Perhaps "legislative body" instead of "legislature" if that adds clarity? CMD (talk) 04:06, 28 July 2020 (UTC)
- I'm OK with this if @Narutolovehinata5 and Yoninah: are... Raymie (t • c) 04:28, 28 July 2020 (UTC)
- ALT0b: ... that the 2022 Chuukese independence referendum has been delayed three times, including by the legislative body that approved it?
- That sounds better. My original issue was that the "by the legislature itself" wording was vague, which has been resolved by ALT0b's wording. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 05:40, 28 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5: Thank you. Could you give the approval tick? Yoninah (talk) 18:32, 28 July 2020 (UTC)
- Should be good to go now. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:01, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
