Golden Sombrero

[edit]

4 strikeouts in a game is a stat called a Golden Sombrero

It is tracked by the industry and is a bona fide stat which has a Wikipedia page.

Notable power hitters like Judge can earn them like some of the best hitters in the sport.

Not every Golden Sombrero is notable; usually a career first (regular and postseason)

It doesn’t need to be mentioned every time, only when it is a record of some sort Capriaf (talk) 12:39, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Request 10 April 2018

[edit]

Request to change and/or alter the sentence "Judge identifies as African American" to be a bit more accurate. Source [3] did not state that Judge identified as any ethnicity, source [4] did not talk about Judge at all, and source [5] assumed and did not reliably confirmed that he identified as such by stating "...but he apparently identifies himself as African-American for the annual Society of American Baseball Research (SABR) compilation of black players." Recommend to changing sentence to "Judge is biracial" as supported by source [3] or "Although Judge have yet to identified as any ethnicity, Northjersey.com states that he is biracial while the St. Louis American claimed that he identified as African American through the Society of American Baseball Research (SABR)." Thank You. SquidKidInfo (talk) 07:43, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article isn't semi-protected anymore, however if it's a contentious issue perhaps some discussion here before making the edit, WP:BLP and all that. 2A02:C7F:2C57:FD00:9DE0:E7AE:33A0:776F (talk) 08:39, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about that, I didn't know about the semi-protecting issue. Basically, due to to the sources not being absolutely clear (my reasoning above) the original statement ought to be change a little to make it more true to what the sources actually say. My bad regarding the constant back-and-forth edits I made on the talk page, I was figuring out how to properly post on the talk page as a new user. Yankees OR Yankee’s

[edit]

The text should read “ Yankee’s” instead of “Yankees” 76.173.255.119 (talk) 09:18, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Aaron Judge is from Linden, CA. We’re all pretty proud of our hometown guy. Sacramento is listed under his birthdate. 2001:5B0:235C:F438:6579:2A2A:BA0A:5F7 (talk) 15:47, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, the parameter listed in the infobox is birthplace and not hometown. It's a bit weird and leads to things like Gerald Ford's only mention of Grand Rapids in his infobox being his high school. However, it seems like that same field is not available on this infobox. Records

[edit]

Some of the records aren’t really worthy of being up there. Judge is a fantastic player but some of those unique milestones seem like the belong on sports sites rather than here. I believe it needs some cleaning up. Do we really need the fact that he is third Yankee with multiple 50 HR seasons? That isn’t a record. Babe has the franchise record with 4.

He will have more awards coming that are definitely more noteworthy. Also his contract potentially will be a record Capriaf (talk) 23:57, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Project page.

Free agency doesn't start until Thursday. THEN everyone who played in 2022 under their last year in contract officially becomes a free agent. MichaelFansz (talk) 16:09, 6 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong. Players officially become free agents the day after the world series ends. Spanneraol (talk) 16:13, 6 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nov. 6: As of 9 a.m. ET on Sunday, all eligible players are free agents. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:14, 6 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There is some confusion caused by the fact that free agents cannot sign with a new team until the 5-day negotiating window is over. But they are free agents as of today, as you can see by visiting MLB's | official transaction log. SS451 (talk) 18:19, 6 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

He is now signed with the Yankees through 2032

[edit]

As of december 7, he signed with the Yankees through 2032 for 9 years for $360M. [1]https://www.mlb.com/news/aaron-judge-deal-with-yankees

Please update the article to reflect this change. 47.23.89.74 (talk) 21:37, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is still no official Confirmation from the Yankees. Once that comes out, it will be updated. Jgirsky (talk) 15:39, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Look back to previous free agent signings of the Yankees in the last decade plus and you'll see that they are very slow to go from a deal being reported in the media to contract signing announcement and 40-man roster transaction. Why? I do not know. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:55, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
