Expansion request

[edit]

he seems to be a TV personality in UK now but he's also one of the legend of the 24 hours of Le Mans. Ericd 00:37, 25 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Currently, the article seems to be more than a stub. Though short, it's a perfectly well-rounded informational article for a person who is not a historical figure, or even really a "star". Personally, I think perhaps a good focus of expansion might be to try and generate a list of television shows he has been involved in. And, has he authored any books?--SportWagon 15:53, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Last Name?

[edit]

I see instances in this article of "Cadenet, Alain de". Shouldn't they be "de Cadenet, Alain"? That is common practice, isn't it? Is it perhaps not Wikipedia practice, then?--SportWagon 16:28, 12 June 2006 (UTC) (these are all in the references section; and indeed, e.g. in 1945 Births, "Alain de Cadenet" shows up under "C", while various other "de" people show up under "D")[reply]

I think one should use "de Cadenet, Alain", and the sorter should have a separate section before "D" for "de, du, di, d'" etc., and place the names there as well as in the section for the name following the "de". Until, if ever, that gets done, perhaps it's not clear what to do, although I'd vote for putting the name under "D".--SportWagon 16:40, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One can say to force the alphabetization, but the entry title will be used in the Category listing. An example doing that is in Jacqueline du Pré--SportWagon 17:31, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have gone ahead and made it since no-one discussed it either here, specifically, or more generically in project/style talk pages. I don't ever recall seeing such names alphabetized not under "D" "in real life".--SportWagon 15:47, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Biography of a Living Person, etc.

[edit]

So, someone should indicate the specific parts they feel cause so much trouble. --SportWagon 20:53, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Previously I had commented on a "poorly sourced material" but perhaps I was just reading too quickly. Either that, or someone has in the meantime cleaned up the wording of the expansion of the "living biography" tag so it specifically says "negative". (Of course, who decides what's negative?)--SportWagon 20:53, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In fact, history of Template:Blp indicates someone did recently add "of living persons", but I think "negative" has been there for a long time. Blush.--SportWagon
Actually, what you see at Template:Blp isn't at this moment what you get as an expansion of --SportWagon 21:07, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It ought to be, as they both transclude the same text. The image and formatting are different, however. --kingboyk 13:19, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, now I get it. The template is a constant reminder. Not like other templates which are added in response to a specific problem which needs fixing. There likely weren't any problems with Alain de Cadenet or this talk page. Duh. (Also, the two instances of the template do contain identical wording today).--SportWagon 18:57, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you're right. It's a reminder that's applied to every living person page, not an indicator of a problem on this or any other particular page. --kingboyk 20:04, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sections might destub?

[edit]

Amanda de Cadenet isn't really very much longer, but it does have sections. Perhaps we need some sections for Alain too. But the article contains inaccuracies (he's no longer doing Barrett-Jackson) and contains no citations and a bit of non-NPOV.—SportWagon 05:50, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
