Move proposal

The result of the proposal was Leave Allan Jenkins as the disambig page Anthony Appleyard (talk) 11:45, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
I've changed the redirect and added an otheruses tag on the Allan Jenkins (footballer) page (but not on the Allan Jenkins (journalist) page, since nobody is likely to get there and be astonished that it's not the footballer). Few pages link so I think uncontroversial to move, really. I would advise not to move Allan Jenkins to main head, in the presence of another article, since although this has a little more bulk, it is not substantial. SimonTrew (talk) 22:20, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Allan Jenkins (footballer) → Allan Jenkins - Reason: The article for the Morton player contains quite a bit of information, whereas the previous holder of that page was described in a single sentence. Salty1984 (talk) 20:04, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Allan Jenkins is a redirect (which went to Allan Jenkins (journalist)). I've changed it to redirect to Allan Jenkins (footballer). I am not sure that more needs to be done here, {{for}} would seem irrelevant since someone is hardly likely to find Allan Jenkins (journalist) and expect a footballer, or vice versa. Will check What Links Here just in case. SimonTrew (talk) 22:05, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- I've added otheruses -> journalist to the footballer's page, and checked the What Links Here, nothing except in User: namespace or self-referential; added dab for "Alan Jenkins" [sic] which lists the footballer, journalist, and an American comic comedian. Blanchardb fixed the dab, presumably to make it conform to a guideline I am unaware of (HAYLP!) SimonTrew (talk) 22:54, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- User:Blanchardb's edits to the DAB have been fixed by User:MuffledThud to comply with WP:MOSDAB. – ukexpat (talk) 23:08, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Allan jenkins [sic] now redirects to Allan Jenkins the dab page. Double redirect, will have to stay a while until we unravel the rest. MOSDAB irrelevant, the user asked to move to Allan Jenkins, not to make it a dab page. I didn't; blanchardb didn't; you did. SimonTrew (talk) 23:15, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- dabs all now work as expected; still a little uncomfortable that though this is probably the best solution it is not what was asked for. SimonTrew (talk) 23:27, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
