He emigrated to France with his wife after the October Revolution? He was twelve during the October Revolution. Is his age correct here? Also, how did he get employment at the Berlin Conservatory during Nazi times with a Jewish wife??

I think his birth date needs to be verified. Here's what the Russian source says quoting Robert Hossein [1]:

My father, Aminoullah, was born in Samarkand. A talented musician, he was noticed by the Russian authorities in Turkestan and was sent to Moscow to study. There, he converted to Eastern Orthodoxy and became André. As a violinist and a composer, he went on to complete his education in the Berlin conservatory, where he was at the time World War I started.

Now, I have a hard time imagining that a 9 year-old boy (given that he was born in 1905 and WWI started in 1914) could accomplish so much in such short period of time. With regards to his work in the Berlin conservatory, the source only refers to the WWI period and says nothing about the 1930s:

...in the Berlin conservatory, where he was at the time World War I started. Father would write symphonies and music for ballets; adapt literary pieces to notes, such as The Gypsies by Pushkin... I haven't found a reliable source per se but I have found the blog of an Iranian-Canadian music buff that contains a short biography of Hossein. According to Farya Pirbazari, André Hossein was indeed born in 1905, but he left for Moscow not as a student but as a very young child. After the war he went to Berlin, but only to finish high school. He then studied under the German artist Artur Schnabel in Paris. (Schnabel was at the Conservatoire de Paris in the 20s, so this is plausible.)

His chronology is not the same as Robert Hossein's but it does have the advantage of making sense. (One has to wonder whether someone has been spinning tales to make Mr. Hossein's escape from communism and fascism a little more dramatic. Just to update: I've heard from Mr. Pirbazari, and (unfortunately for us) his information is from personally knowing Mr. Hossein and not from a third party. Good afternoon, I studied in a Russian school and I know Russian language. Robert Hossein also speaks Russian quite well. In this interview (youtu.be/1YCgKX1POxs?t=49) with Leyla Aliyeva, Robert says: "Родители, отец мой, они были Азери". (″Parents, father my, they were Azeri″).

According to the newspaper "Argumenty i Fakty", Robert says that although his father was born in Samarkand, he was Azerbaijani.

about the origin[edit]

In all the interviews with Robert Ossein that I saw (youtu.be/1YCgKX1POxs?t=49 — interview with Leyla Aliyeva; Interview avec Robert Hossein (Интервью с Робером Оссейном) — TV Centre (Russia), interview with presenter Alexandra Glotova), he says that his father is Azeri and not a word about Persian origin. Third-party sources also do not write "Persian and Azerbaijan origin", but only about one origin, based on this I think it is more correct to write "or" instead of "and". I believe that "Persian and Azerbaijani origin" is WP:NOR.

I think Andre Hossein is of Azerbaijani origin, but assimilated into Persian culture. No source where Robert or Andre talked about the fact that the Persian origin or nationality I have not seen. If anyone has it, please show it here. V.N.Ali (talk) 03:05, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
