Article re-name

[edit]

I moved the article yesterday from "Andy Thompson (artist)" to "Andy Thompson (theater professional)". The commonly accepted definition of 'artist' is the visual arts, while Thompson is clearly recognised as an actor and professional working on the stage. However, I assumed as the subject is a North American, theatre would be (mis)spelt 'theater'. If the Canadian spelling is "theatre", feel free to move the article to the preferred spelling! Awful picture

[edit]

That photo is awful, it's too small and its lopsided! And the subject isn't even looking at the camera!--Lerdthenerd wiki defender 18:52, 14 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You don't have to like the photograph, but any individual editor's personal aesthetic preferences have no bearing on whether the photo is usable or not. As long as the image is properly licensed, and we don't already have another image uploaded and in place to immediately replace it with, it gets to stay whether you or any other editor personally likes it or not. If you have a problem with it, then you can put in the effort to track down an appropriate replacement — but removing it just because you think it's a bad photo, and then demanding that other people find a new one for you, ain't how this works: the only legitimate grounds for removing the existing photo from an article are (a) it has to be deleted because it was never properly licensed for use on Wikipedia in the first place, or (b) there's a better one already on Wikipedia and ready to go into the article right away as an immediate replacement.
