Fair use rationale for Image:ChiefJusticeMason.jpg

[edit]

Image:ChiefJusticeMason.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

1975 Dismissal

[edit]

I'm surprised we have nothing here about Mason's deep involvement with Kerr in 1975. He knew all about the Dismissal well before it occurred, because he provided advice to him over a period of time about his constitutional prerogatives and obligations. His papers were finally released a couple of years ago, and his position is that he acted completely properly and impartially, but for the record he says he agreed with Kerr's decision. His only ongoing criticism of Kerr is that he counselled Kerr at the time to warn his Prime Minister Whitlam of his intention to sack him unless nothing changed, but Kerr studiously avoided doing so (for fear he'd be sacked first).

I'll have to dig something out and add it in. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 20:36, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Who wants to cut this down to size? -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 22:13, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Done it. Though I think the article is now bottom-heavy. I would like to balance it with explanation of significance of the major Mason Court cases. And/or some material in the Dismissal section might be merged into the Dismissal article. Wikiain (talk) 03:10, 22 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Wikiain. A very promising start. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 03:29, 22 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Rightoh, Jack. I've now expanded the "major cases" bit. Wikiain (talk) 00:27, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
