Brief additional biographical details
[edit]The changes are minor, with references. There are no copyright issues as quotations are very short; also the quoted author died in 1943, 79 years ago.
I have added further documented details on the surname of Arthur Lloyd James, and deleted the prescriptive article heading about the name being a barrelled surname. The surname of his parents was James, he adopted Lloyd James as a pen-surname and was referred to with the surname James by his mentor Daniel Jones. I have not changed the existing Lloyd James surname variant in the body of the article.
Since I possess several of James' books, which are rather rare, I have added a substantial detail about his research, with citation of and page references to the innovative aspect, a distinction between languages with different rhythms. I have added a reference to one of the books which I possess, "Speech signals in telephony", from which the citations are taken. I have also corrected one punctuation detail and replaced one pronoun by the name. Update: the second edit concerns only formatting.
