Death

[edit]

@Stopnswop: and User_talk:92.8.144.139, I believe you that she died, yet we still need to have a secondary source to verify the date of death (and place if possible). There unfortunately have been instances where vandals have faked someone's death here. Please add that citation, or I'll revert the edit until a reference can be found. I'll look for one also. You can post a URL or two on this talk page if you are unfamiliar with adding citations. Thanks in advance. Netherzone (talk) 22:52, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe there is a public article as of yet. We knew her personally and the only thing I could link is private facebook posts, and it's not letting the link be viewed when clicking. What should I do ? Stopnswop (talk) 13:06, 26 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Stopnswop: I'm very sorry to hear that you lost someone close to you. Best practices would be to wait until an official announcement is made in the press, or an obituary is published, or a funeral notice. (I think) a death certificate is considered a primary source and might include personal information that could disrupt the privacy of the family, so that is probably not a good idea. I looked through the WP Manual of Style, and did not find anything definitive other than the suggestion to use secondary sources. You might want to go to the Tea House or the Help Desk and ask them, the volunteers who work there are really knowledgeable. Make sure you bookmark the page when you make your request so you know where to find your answer. Here is a link to the Tea House[1] and a link to the Help Desk[2]. If you don't get your question answered, ping me (by writing @Netherzone: at the beginning of your message) and I'll continue to try to help you. Netherzone (talk) 14:01, 26 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Stopnswop: - I think the best course of action in this case would be to contact one of the UK music magazines, or one of the 60s music blog sites - or, a local newspaper with an online presence. Most editors would accept them as reliable in circumstances like this. Ghmyrtle (talk) 18:58, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Guardian obituary added. Thanks --Jkaharper (talk) 19:11, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
