Source: In 1914, The Lenoir News reported that the Cone Estate was said to have thousands of apple trees with an estimated harvest of 50,000 bushels. The slopes near the lake were also covered with hundreds of apple trees.

Cone specified the construction of a 500 feet long 30 feeot wide dam earthen dam with a clay core and a dual-channeled stone-lined spillway to handle overflows. A sluice gate was included to allow the lake to be drained. A small island was built within the lake as a focal point, and water lilies, specifically Nymphaea odorata were planted along the northern end of the lake

• Hi Lightburst, review follows: article created 27 August and exceeds minimum length; article is well written and cited inline throughout to reliable sources; I didn't spot any overly close paraphrasing from the sources; a QPQ has been carried out; hooks are interesting enough and mentioned in the article; ALT0 is fine (though I changed "surrounded by" to "covered with" to match the wording of the source and article and "are" to "were", as the source is from 1914); for ALT1 I couldn't find the exact part of the document you quote but on page 26 it says "The 21-acre lake was built circa 1905 based on the specifications of Moses Cone", which is fine for me, however our article on the house says it was finished in 1901, so his house wouldn't have overlooked the lake? Let me know if you are happy for ALT0 to run or if you want to submit different ALTs for review - Dumelow (talk) 07:52, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
