Move discussion in progress
[edit]There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Celebrity Big Brother 1 (U.S.) which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 23:47, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
Requested move 21 June 2018
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
Moved as proposed. bd2412 T 17:35, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
- Big Brother 1 (Netherlands) → Big Brother (Netherlands season 1)
- Big Brother 2 (Netherlands) → Big Brother (Netherlands season 2)
- Big Brother 3 (Netherlands) → Big Brother (Netherlands season 3)
- Big Brother 4 (Netherlands) → Big Brother (Netherlands season 4)
- Big Brother 5 (Netherlands) → Big Brother (Netherlands season 5)
- Big Brother 6 (Netherlands) → Big Brother (Netherlands season 6)
– I could not find sources to support that each season was individually numbered by the broadcaster or the production company for this edition. In an effort to align the naming convention guidelines of WP:BIGBRO with the established guidelines of WP:NCTV I'm proposing we move the individual season articles to the names suggested. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 20:53, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
- Support, as per nom. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 04:08, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
- Support as long as the title really is Big Brother and not Big Brother Netherlands (or something in Dutch, with English-language sources actually preferring the Dutch name). This "Big Brother x (Country_name_here)" stuff is just aberrant. We don't do that with any articles titles about anything, meanwhile we have a stable and site-wide TV convention of "Title_here (season X)", from which there is no reason to diverge in this case. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 06:20, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
- Neutral, but CREATE REDIRECTS no matter what happens. Paintspot Infez (talk) 18:19, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
- Support with a slight correction. The name should be changed to Big Brother (Dutch season 1) similar to Big Brother (Dutch TV series) and per WP:NCTV.--Gonnym (talk) 14:08, 28 June 2018 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Moved. Having been open for almost three weeks, the consensus is to move these. The arguments brought up by the opposition are not in line with our guidelines. If you wish to move any more incorrectly disambiguated pages, separate RMs will need to be opened. Anarchyte (work | talk) 07:26, 22 July 2018 (UTC)
- Big Brother (Netherlands season 1) → Big Brother (Dutch season 1)
- Big Brother (Netherlands season 2) → Big Brother (Dutch season 2)
- Big Brother (Netherlands season 3) → Big Brother (Dutch season 3)
- Big Brother (Netherlands season 4) → Big Brother (Dutch season 4)
- Big Brother (Netherlands season 5) → Big Brother (Dutch season 5)
- Big Brother (Netherlands season 6) → Big Brother (Dutch season 6)
– The previous move was not completed with the correct WP:NCTV naming convention. NCTV says to Prefix the country of broadcast (
adjective)
, which in this case would be Dutch instead of Netherlands (which is similar to Big Brother (Dutch TV series)). Gonnym (talk) 20:48, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
- Question – Gonnym Can you find other examples that use "Dutch TV series" and especially "Dutch season [x]" (both scripted, and unscripted)?... I'd like to see some more examples before I support... --IJBall (contribs • talk) 19:35, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
- IJBall, I'll see if I can find any, but if your issue is with this, then you should really take it to WP:NCTV and request it changes this part, as its very much how it says season names should be disambiguated. --Gonnym (talk) 20:07, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
- I checked the Category:XXXX television seasons (Category:2015 television seasons etc.) from 1999 to present, and found only the Big Brother ones (these articles), So You Think You Can Dance (Belgium and the Netherlands, season 6), Secret Story 2011 (Netherlands) and The Voice Kids (Netherlands season 1). As you can see the first two aren't even close to trying to confirm to WP:NCTV, while The Voice has this current style. Also note that all three articles are in very poor condition, with the first 2 without any sources at all, and The Voice with sources only for viewing numbers. I would say that those editing these articles weren't really bothered with finding the most correct title either. Those names are also not confirming to NCTV (similar to the previous issue with Big Brother articles here and still present in other worse names who used only (country-name). So either NCTV changes to one of these style or this changes to the one at NCTV, but in my opionin, I see no valid reason for checking this on a per-basis issue as I'm sure NCTV had much more people involved in writing that guideline. (as a side note (not that it technically matters in this situation), notice the category name: 2015 Dutch television seasons and not 2015 Netherlands television seasons.) --Gonnym (talk) 20:32, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support - this is covered under WP:TVSEASON which shows that we use the same adjectival method for season article disambiguation as used for their main series article. -- Netoholic @ 17:39, 7 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support as nominator. Noticed I forgot. --Gonnym (talk) 22:46, 11 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Gonnym: You're not supposed to do that; see WP:Requested moves#Commenting in a requested move. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 21:59, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose? per User:Alucard 16 in other discussions - I'm honestly not sure this is a quick and easy move. As mentioned by Alucard, "WP:NCTV (as the guidance for editors) is not clear that the adjective should be applied to season articles like its parent series". Examples from the Netherlands include "So You Think You Can Dance (Belgium and the Netherlands, season 6)", "Secret Story 2011 (Netherlands)" and "The Voice Kids (Netherlands season 1)". As mentioned in the Denmark discussion, other examples include "X Factor (Denmark season 8) and Idols (Denmark season 1)"; or in the Argentina discussion, examples like "Bailando por un Sueño (Argentina season 1)". As mentioned by User:IJBall in the Australia discussion, "there are numerous current examples of "Australia season [x]" in use – e.g. The Voice (Australia season 7), The Bachelor (Australia season 2), etc. So this probably requires a wider discussion on the question." Paintspot Infez (talk) 18:17, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
- The fact that some titles don't yet comply with the guideline is not a rationale to make fewer of them comply with the guideline. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 21:59, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support per WP:TVSEASON and WP:CONSISTENCY, even if we need to do more consistency work with regard to old articles like The Bachelor (Australia season 2), etc. WP:There is no deadline. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 21:59, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
