As a listener to Blackburn's broadcasts in the 1970s and 1980s, I know that Blackburn coined the nicknames of DJ and JJ for Dennis Johnson and John Johnson as a way of distinguishing them when they were on the court at the same time. These nicknames "took" (e.g., they are noted at http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/johnsde01.html and http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/johnsjo01.html), unlike his VJ for Vinnie Johnson who shared the court with DJ and JJ during the 1979-80 season. I've been unable to locate a print or Internet source to support an edit stating that he is the originator of these nicknames.
