Update needed

[edit]

The following statement in the section on 'Places and dedications' needs updating:

"As of 2008, the Adirondack Council was encouraging the state of New York to create the Bob Marshall Great Wilderness near Cranberry Lake in the western Adirondacks. If they succeed, it would be the largest wilderness area in the Adirondack Park at 409,000 acres (639 sq mi; 1,655 km2)."

There is now a proposal to establish a 'Bob Marshall Wild Lands Complex'. The proposal is apparently controversial, with 'recreationists' including snowmobilers and wilderness advocates at odds over the proposal. One article on the topic: http://nextstoptupperlake.org/786/are-there-ulterior-motives-in-arta-rail-to-trail-plan. Regards, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 03:28, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
