The anchorage at Fort Ross cove is not "excellent" but rather, modest, and completely exposed in a moderate North-West breeze, and is not suitable for any long term port stay. Most Russian-American company and naval ships chose to tack back and forth along the coast and send small boats into the cove rather than anchoring. The main port for the Company's shipping always remained Port Rumyantsev (Bodega Bay) while, though not ideal, was protected in prevalent NW winds. I have edited it to reflect this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ltkizhi (talk • contribs) 21:23, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
