Death[edit]

There is some confusion over Gesche's death date. Some sources state 1980, while others state December 27 1967. Any one have a definitive answer? Jack1956 (talk) 15:13, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Throughout the article it refers to Gesche being part of the SS-Begleitkommando des Führers. However this ceased to exist in 1934 when it was replaced by the Führerschutzkommando which in turn was superseded by the Reichssicherheitsdienst in 1935.

This elementary error makes much of what is purported in this article extremely questionable as the role that Gesche is alleged to have undertaken did not in fact exist!

It begs the question, that without any references, what else did not happen?

How many references do you need? The entire detail is set forth in Hoffmann's "Hitler's Personal Security," as well as the documentary series, "Hitler's Bodyguard!" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.194.250.33 (talk) 03:43, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So fix it. Wikipedia is written by volunteers. If you have references, which it seems you do, and you care about the problem, which it seems you do, then you're as good as anyone to improve the article. -- Finlay McWalterTalk 15:43, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, only the Begleitkommando-SS was replaced by the Führerschutzkommando (FSK). The SS-Begleitkommando des Führers, formed in February 1932, was later expanded and became known as the Führerbegleitkommando (FBK). The FSK (formed in 1933) was a separate unit which did become known as the Reichssicherheitsdienst (RSD) in 1935. However, the FBK and RSD remained two separate units until the fall of Nazi Germany. See their separate articles and the book cites for detail. Kierzek (talk) 18:02, 13 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
