Birth/death

[edit]

According to ru:Кольчинская, Камилла Александровна, she was born on 1 January 1939 (looks suspect to me) and died on 16 February 2016 in Baltimore, so I've listed her above as |living=no. Apparently, the Russian Wikipedia entry is based on http://camillakolchinsky.com/en/guestbook; her death is also mentioned at http://nohugging.blogspot.com.au/2016_03_01_archive.html. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 15:08, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sometimes the Russian Wikipedia just seems to pluck dates out of the blue. I've noticed that on several occasions. I went by the information at the El Camino Youth Orchestra website of 1931–2016 here and used that for the article. She was the musical director there for 20 years, and only retired two years before her death. Further confirmation that 1931 is probably her birth year rather than 1939 comes from this memoir by the late scientist and dissident Nikolay Vorontsov (ru:Воронцов, Николай Николаевич) published in the literary magazine Znamya. He was a childhood friend of Kolchinsky and states in the memoir that she was a little older than he. He was born in 1934. Voceditenore (talk) 14:41, 4 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This is the Google translation of the Vorontsov article, which has material about Kolchinsky's parents and early life in Russia and some about her later career. The reference for the original is:
