Perhaps the concept of statistics remain elusive to you, but if you have about 1-4 residents per year heading off to college-- and say 2 go to and graduate from an ivy league or near caliber private college, then that would be 50% -- it's a small community, and the statistics reflect that. 76.102.139.19 01:16, 18 August 2007 (UTC)lala[reply]

Used to make deliveries throughout the San Francisco Bay area. When time allowed, on the way back to my home base in Concord, I would take the long way back and drive through Canyon. So close to a major metropolitan area but the topography precludes much settlement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.50.0.156 (talkcontribs) 04:25, March 11, 2006

I don't know about that statistic regarding Ivy League attendance - i have lived in a neighboring town for two decades and I am yet to meet anyone in Canyon but drug dealers, washed-out hippies, and an assortment of other freaks. I don't know who wrote this article, but it sounds like its defenitely the product of a Canyon Critter (derogative term for Canyon residents). I can almost garuntee that Ivy League acceptance is more common for the Oakland zoo than this menagerie. For the sake of decency, please revise this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dj8man11 (talkcontribs) 08:20, September 5, 2006Jonrysh (talk) 19:31, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know who wrote this article, but it sounds like its defenitely the product of a Canyon Critter Since I'm the one who wrote the bulk of it, I'd say that tells most of what I need to know, namely that your reliability is about as "garunteed" as your spelling. Hint: I'm not from Canyon.
I am yet to meet anyone in Canyon but drug dealers, washed-out hippies, and an assortment of other freaks. I'm guessing that cutting off that sentence after "Canyon" would render it true.
If you have anything constructive to add or constructive criticism to make, please do so. If not, you're welcome to go practice your Don Rickles act elsewhere. --Calton | Talk 07:13, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes, that good old hometown bigotry of Moraga brings back memories. Boy do I love Seattle! (Campo '94) Zoticogrillo (talk) 23:52, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have lived in Canyon from the day I was born (19 yrs. ago) until the present. I found eveything in this article to be completely true from an "insiders" perspective. Thank you for taking the time to write such an interesting mini-bio on Canyon, very well done. Ctyrrell67 19:43, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Corina T.[reply]

Canyon did not stop evolving in 1968 or 1974. It remains durably bohemian, but drug use has declined significantly. In fact, the nearest suburban middle school has greater drug and alcohol problems than Canyon's - a fascinating example of counter-cyclic cultural change. Not only have Canyon students gone to Ivy League universities, they've joined the Marines and started multi-million dollar companies. This isn't really surprising, given that the "freaks" referred to above were often UC-Berkeley students and professors, a well-educated bunch. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bcola (talkcontribs) 20:11, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bad coordinates

[edit]

The coordinates given for Canyon are probably wrong. Google Earth places these coordinates at 6700 Aitken Dr, Piedmont, CA 94611. I don't know what the right coordinates are, but they are probably something like 37.821481°,-122.154110° Jonrysh (talk) 19:31, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The USGS coordinates sure do look wrong. I updated with the Census coordinates instead. Adamw (talk) 08:07, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
