[edit]I thought -and added- that Carl Adolph Rothe was a governor in the Danish West Indies (see also the list on List of Governors of the Danish West Indies). However, Bornholm and Christiansø are in the Baltic Sea. There's a town in the Danish West Indies called Christiansted which may have been confused with Christiansø. Or the Carl Adolph Rothe, the said Governor-General (1820 - 1822) in the Danish West Indies, was a different Rothe family member. I hope someone knows so that we can correct the article accordingly as it's currently -in this respect- wrong as it seems. Schultie (talk) 13:04, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm talking to myself as I think I've the answer to my question (on the Danish Naval History website; see the aricle for the URL). Rothe was indeed (first) (military) governor of Bornholm/Christiansø in the Baltic Sea. And then said website refers to the following which I cannot, however, fully understand as it's in Danish so I hope someone can confirm/clarify: "14. juli 1820 - 17. februar 1822 : Beordret til at rejse til Vestindien som medlem af en kommission, der bl.a. havde den opgave at undersøge Generalguvernør, generalmajor A. B. Bentzons forhold". Schultie (talk) 07:43, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- Translation of the excerpt: "(dates) Ordered to travel to the West Indies as member of a commission, that among other things were tasked with investigating governor general, major general A.B. Bentzon's circumstances". Sounds like he was possibly governor interim in some capacity? Mikkel (talk) 08:02, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
- DBL says he was interim as "the administration [of the West Indies] ... had come somewhat into disrepair." No other mention of his time there as far as I can tell. Mikkel (talk) 08:05, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
