Trivia section

[edit]

Trivia sections on Wikipedia are considered very bad form. All imformation within this section should be dispersed to apropriate places within the article. --The_stuart 18:23, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Someone wrote to Ray Ivey of JustAdventure.com saying Charles was "a faggot that should be taken out into the streets and shot." Shortly after this was made public a number of gay magazines in America interpretted it literally, they then proceeded to contact Charles asking if they could do interviews because they liked the idea of a gay video games designer.
  • Charles has always had a particular interest in the narrative techniques of interactive entertainment and how the medium will develop with advancing technology so in 2003 to come to terms with modern story telling methods, he enrolled himself in an open University course in York about creating films using modern cinematic techniques, but shortly afterwards pulled out due to time constraints, most likely due to the imminent release of Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon.
While I agree with you on the poor form, removing the trivia and placing it in here, doesnt solve the problem, in fact it makes it worse by obscuring it, in the hope someone will find the talk page then reincorporate the facts. Whats better is to leave it in the article and have wikifaith that it will eventually be incorporated into the main text seamlessly. - UnlimitedAccess 10:21, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Importance

[edit]

I don't think this Article should be Low Importance. Charles Cecil is known as a legend, and has created one of the most succesfull games in the 90s. Many of his games are know as Classics! He is a Highly Important Person in The Gaming Industry!--7arazred (talk) 12:37, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Per the Importance scale for WikiProject Video games, individuals are ranked Top-importance (article forms the basis of all information) if they have an essential historical influence on the medium (e.g. Nolan Bushnell, Shigeru Miyamoto); they are ranked High-importance (article covers a general area of knowledge) if they have a career of highly influential works, or historically significant accomplishments (e.g. Hideo Kojima, Tim Schafer, David Jones); they are ranked Mid-importance (article fills in general knowledge of specialized topics) if they have a career of internationally successful or critically acclaimed works (e.g. Chris Metzen, Cliff Bleszinski); and Low-importance otherwise. Personally I'm reluctant to go even as high as Mid-importance, because no evidence has been provided of his having produced either internationally successful or critically acclaimed works, so I think that Low-importance is justified. --Redrose64 (talk) 13:51, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Why did he get the title Legend of the Gaming Industry? - because he's Important. Don't forget the NBE! And here's Your proof he's Highly Important!.... Plus this: http://www.giantbomb.com/charles-cecil/72-4295/--7arazred (talk) 08:55, 18 September 2011 (UTC) - AND THERE IS MUCH MORE![reply]
But who says he's a "Legend of the Gaming Industry"? - without a reliable source, this fails WP:PEACOCK. His MBE was awarded "for services to the Computer Games Industry"; there is no mention in the London Gazette of just what those services were. --Redrose64 (talk) 16:17, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

|checked=failed. Added "cbignore" after the links that were corrected by the bot. Rel. sources are only found at the old Revolution site (Wayback Machine), not on the current site.Gamnos (talk) 15:10, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
