Breaded chicken
[edit]As an Englishman, I've never encountered battered chicken in chicken maryland, it's always been breaded - maybe it's a regional thing... I've added 'breaded' to the UK section anyway. Drywontonmee (talk) 05:37, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- Not sure you'd see battered Chicken Maryland over here either - sounds like something you'd do to a piece of whitefish before dousing it with malt vinegar and eating with steak fries... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.51.66.32 (talk) 01:09, 15 March 2014 (UTC)

Relevance of the U.S. State
[edit]This article has contradictory statements regarding the relation between the chicken dish and the U.S. State of Maryland. I'm going to search for more data and remove/reword the incorrect statements. --98.210.104.178 (talk) 18:21, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
United Kingdom
[edit]I think the statements made about Chicken Maryland in the UK were possibly true in the 1970s and 80s but not any more. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw it on a menu in a restaurant of any description; my guess is that it has been superseded by fried chicken in Indian and Chinese restaurants and has gone out of fashion in general as tastes have become more sophisticated. Unfortunately that would not be considered a reliable reference for purposes of the article and would be classified as either original research or anecdotal. I have found this recipe from 1978- which would be when its star was at its zenith- on a retro food site but I'm not sure that could be taken as a reliable indicator of the dish's subsequent decrease in popularity. - That's okay, it went out of style over here after the 40s, so you were only 30 years out of date when it was at its "zenith" over there... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.51.66.32 (talk) 01:11, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
Appropriate Photo?
[edit]The description of this dish specifies that a cream gravy is characteristic of Chicken Maryland. Yet, the photo (albeit captioned as some "Mexican version" of the dish) shows what appears to be chicken covered in brown gravy. This would appear to be contradictory. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.51.66.32 (talk) 00:49, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
- the photo is not appropriate at all. It would be better to have no photo than this inauthentic Mexican version. If a Wikipedia article on a classic Mexican dish like chiles en nogada had a lead picture of some American "interpretation", people would be screaming about cultural insensitivity. This is insensitive to Maryland culture and needs to be removed. Mmyers1976 (talk) 23:41, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
