[edit]Reference section needed: As a long-time player, referee and coach, and a spectator at each of Gentile's great 1982 world cup games, I have taken it upon myself to beef up this article, and have added two references. Yet there is no reference section, so these don't show up. Can this situation be remedied? I don't know how to create a reference section. Sincerely.Doktorschley (talk) 15:18, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
One of the roughest defenders?
[edit]The guy collected zero red cards in a long career. By this measure, he would be in the 1% cleanest defenders of all time.
Also, he was a right back, not a center back. At Juve, the centre backs were Morini and Scirea, and later Brio and Scirea. For Italy, the centre backs were Bellugi and Scirea, then Collovati and Scirea. He was played out of position only twice, against Maradona and Zico in the WC 1982, because he was so much better at marking than everyone else.

- I have found a reference for his red cards. He actually had one in his career, for an intentional handball, in overtime in a Champions League game. I am going to add that, and also edit the text. He started as a holding midfielder, then moved to left back, then to right back. As mentioned above, he played central defender only for those two games in the 1982 WC. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gbli (talk • contribs) 18:59, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
