Hello, nobody has the name Constantin Henriquez de Zubiera. Constantin Henriquez de Zubiera is a name created by confusion between two names Constantin Henriquez and Francisco Henríquez de Zubiría. Result of searches of ISOH. The name on Sports-Reference was corrected : The page Constantin Henriquez de Zubiera had destroyed for the creation of the page Constantin Henriquez : [1]. Can you cancel your last modifications on Constantin Henriquez, please ? GabrieL (talk) 08:33, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi GabrieL. I will gladly revert all my edits. However, I need a source that says this is not his name. We need proof that Sports-Reference was corrected etc. Once satisfied, this change will be made. Savvyjack23 (talk) 08:36, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Source that says this is not his name : (in Spanish)[2] ;-) GabrieL (talk) 08:41, 30 May 2016 (UTC) Another source in Romanian : [3] at the end of the text. His brother is Alphonse Henriquez and his grand son is Robert Henriquez and his ancestor Isaac Henriques (with S final). No "de Zubiera" in the family. The other sources were writen after French article of Wikipedia with mention of this confusion. GabrieL (talk) 08:48, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I actually came across this website before. Since, it is a blog we cannot use it as a reference. So I will analyze the citations it uses. I will also access the Romanian website. Please stand-by. (I may return to this in 6-8 hours; it is 4:51AM over here =/ )Savvyjack23 (talk) 08:51, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it's a blog but it's Fernando Arrechea Rivas' blog. Fernando Arrechea Rivas is an Olympic historian and hispanic soccer historian member of the International Society of Olympic Historians. In the sources mentioned by Arrechea, the oldest occurrence with "Constantin Henriquez de Zubiera" is the German book Olympische Spiele 1900 in Paris in 1995 but this book quotes "Constantin Henriquez de Zubiera" in tug of war instead of Francisco Henríquez de Zubiría. And for old results in Olympic Games (database and history), Sports-References is the source the most used in Wikipedia. GabrieL (talk) 09:29, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
In November 1932, Constantin Henriquez published with this name a book on Haïti (Nos Villes et nos Bourgades : Époque de leur fondation. Désignation de leurs habitants. Lieux historiques et pittoresques) ([4], [5]). In June 1932, Le Nouvelliste mentionned his name (second column), it's only Constantin Henriquez ([6]). GabrieL (talk) 08:17, 31 May 2016 (UTC) Bonjour Savvyjack23, Now, can you or can I revert your last modifications with "edit summary" a reference to this talk ? GabrieL (talk) 07:38, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
In light of this new information, I think it is imperative that this article reads "Constantin Henriquez" and can hopefully be used as a benchmark to amend a careless mistake made in history and finally giving credit for Francisco Henríquez de Zubiría's silver medal feat in the Olympics during the same year. Thank you for your patience and for your diligent service in acquiring all these sources GabrieL.
