The?

[edit]

is it "The Constantines" or the Constantines?

well, on all their merchandise and albums, it's constantines, but when talking about them or writing about them, you'd write, "i saw the constantines last night."Cmedley 20:29, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's just Constantines; no "the". Should the page be renamed? 71.7.221.199 14:37, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I reckon the page should be moved to just Constantines, as that's how they identify on their albums, mechandise, and website. I don't have a link right now, but somewhere in the manual of style it is suggested that The be included in the article title only when it is part of the band's official name, like The Beatles for example. Any references in the article to the Constantines are certainly appropriate, but the shouldn't be capitalized as it's not really part of the name. Any thoughts? Alex Constantine

[edit]

Where did you from that they took their name from Alex Constantine? This is from an interview from a few years back: "On Brave New Waves at like 2:30 in the morning, they were playing these experiments this guy had done with spectral voices in static... he had all these sources of white noise and would record, speak into a microphone and record any sorta spectral reply to what he was saying, and his name was Constantine and the experiment were the Constantines."

I took the liberty of removing the references to that author. Cmedley 22:14, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

most people around here just call them the cons.

I've put the reference to Alex Constantine back, with a source. 81.230.2.168 (talk) 21:42, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MacGregor stands alone

[edit]

I think that if Neil Peart has his own wiki page, then Doug should. What if side projects or further interests diverge from The Constantines? My vote is against the merge. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BradGoddard (talkcontribs) 01:09, 7 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

My vote is for the merge. I'm a huge Constantines fan, but at this point in time, Doug doesn't really need his own page.Cmedley 01:41, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Discography

I changed the discography style to include images. If there are any objections feel free to revert. Strobilus 21:55, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Constantines tournamentofhearts art.jpg

[edit]

Image:Constantines tournamentofhearts art.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 21:45, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

If Shoulder (band) is defunct, particularly given the members appear to be the same as the Constantines and the info on the shoulder page is limited and likely to stay so, the shoulder page should be merged with this one. WLU 20:31, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I created the Shoulder page, and it was created last night (june 23rd). it is obvious that the page is so small, as i have no entered the rest of the information yet, and have not received my records to scan and add all proper info to the album pages. as well the band is a completely different genre from the constatines and features members who are no longer active in the band. the page will grow, as i will make sure of it. -HDS
I'd say it's premature to say the Shoulder article is limited and likely to stay so considering that the article is new and has only had one editor contribute to it so far. Only two of the band members are shared between the two bands. A merge seems inappropriate to me, especially at this time. Strobilus 23:09, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah. From the info on the initial shoulder page it sounded like members are identical. Whoever updates the shoulder page should point this out or you might get more merge votes. WLU

I've edited the Shoulder article and the Constantines article to make the band membership and the relationship between the bands more clear. I'm going to go ahead and remove the merge tag if there are no objections. Strobilus 22:37, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for helping out with the Shoulder page. i think ive reached my amount of information i can gather from the web..-HDS

Constantines Reuniting

[edit]

The blog http://theconstantines.wordpress.com announced that the Constantines are reforming and will play concerts in the summer of 2014.

The blog appears legitimate as it was linked to on the band's lead singer Bry Webb's official facebook page. 172.12.160.247 (talk) 05:28, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
