This is fantastically POV. I don't mind the unsourced statements that much because there is a lot of intrigue surrounding what went on behind the scenes between the prelims and team finals in Athens, but its overly negative about the decision made.

To my knowledge, nobody in the know has ever publicly explained what went on. It may be that McCool was benched because of weak prelims performances, it may be because her wrist injury was giving her trouble, it may be because of her mental state. It could be any or all of those. There must be a better way to incorporate this though. For a start, its implied that Marta made a mistake leaving Courtney out, but while some of her selection decisions are certainly open to criticism she could hardly have used her if she was mentally and/ or physically not up to it. If anyone knows of evidence that McCool was only omitted because of her mistakes in prelims, please do add it.

not encyclopedic

[edit]

The implied speculation connecting Collorasi's departure to the McCool situation is not sufficiently backed up and a diversion from the matter at hand. Should be excised.TCO 07:44, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added some references for the Colorassi thingie (and fixed name spelling). Read somewhere that it is silly to ask for citations when it just takes a minute to go get one, usually.TCO (talk) 13:19, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"While continuing to maintain her NCAA amateur status and with the advance approval of the University of Georgia, McCool plans to compete once again for the United States Olympics Women's Gymnastic team in 2008. Whether she enters as a specialist or an all-around gymnast will depend upon her continued wrist rehab progress and overall health at the time of the U.S. Olympic Trials in the Summer of 2008."

McCool has in the past expressed an interest in returning to elite but she has not said anything since she enrolled in College. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.168.24.100 (talk) 13:30, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In vetting this bio, I find all facts to be verifiable and see nothing to dispute. It is impossible to assess the issues at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games as either POV or NPOV as long as they are inerpreted for their face value. The described impact of those issues on the gymnast in question is verifiable. The impact of such events in the life of the subject of a biography and those associated with that individual in the same context may or may not be appropriate subject matter but in this case, appear to be relevant to the topic. Such facts may spark controversy which, by its nature, motivates the reader to learn more and possibly contribute as more pertinent facts become available.
