Conflict of Interest

[edit]

The article has a pretty clear bias, especially in the Post-Military Career section. The offending edits come from Special:Contributions/Zatar2074. The account is likely a Single-purpose account as it largely only edits articles to add information about Deptula. Further suspect is an edit summary message which reads "Substantive additions made to more accurately describe EBO based on first hand experience in developing and applying the effects-based approach" on the Effects-based operations article which credit Deptula with modern development of EBO. This suggests the account is very close to the subect of this article. Significant editing needs to be done to change the tone and sourcing of the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BaroccoliObama (talkcontribs) 03:28, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Concern

[edit]

Please note that an individual identifying himself as the subject of this article has expressed concern regarding its existence. --Nat Gertler (talk) 14:14, 9 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I just expanded the article using the USAF public domain information referenced by the subject above, using the article on the current USAF Chief of Staff as a model. I will probably do more later, but this appears to be a comment on the negative information rather than a true safety concern. Nothing in the article points to any information that would help someone to physically harm LtGen Deptula. GregJackP Boomer! 16:22, 9 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Problematic source

[edit]

The article repeatedly relies on

  • Jackson, Abe (2012). America's Airman: David Deptula and the Airpower Moment. BiblioScholar. ISBN 9781249595298.

According to Worldcat, no library has a copy of this ISBN. It was published in by BiblioScholar, a publishing line that (by Book Depository records) put out about 10,000 books between August 2012 and March 2013. I can find no online record of what this line was - was it some odd form of military-oriented academic press? An aggressive pay-for-publishing company with a military focus? Someone who was scraping public domain materials out of some military source and bookifying them? They don't show up in a copyright.gov name search. They have no website that I could find. Despite their prodigious output, they are used in a reference only one other time on Wikipedia, in No Gun Ri Massacre. Barring better information, I have trouble assuming that this source meets our WP:RS requirements. --Nat Gertler (talk) 15:13, 10 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
