Attorneys
[edit]At Freedom to marry I read: "private lawyers - joined later by the ACLU and Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders - filed a federal lawsuit..." Given some of the squabbling in other cases (attempts to intervene in the Utah case in particular) this sort of cooperation is noteworthy. And we should know who the attorneys are in any case. So who at the start -- looks to me like 2 solo practitioners -- and when did the 2 organizations join?
I also just find this interesting in that GLAD, a New England group, was so successful in New England that it now exports its expertise to other areas of the country. Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 16:19, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- I added some of this. Though I read as well that at trial Mogill had 1 ACLU attorney and 2 from GLAD with him. Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 22:23, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
Second-parent adoption
[edit]It's noteworthy, at least to the extent of footnote-worthy, I'd say, that a state court shifted the ground a bit. In December 2012, "The Michigan Appeals Court ruled ... that family court judges have jurisdiction to grant second-parent adoptions to same-sex couples". See ACLU Praises Appeals Court Decision on Same-Sex Second-Parent Adoption. Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 16:27, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
Decision timing
[edit]Please stop removing the AP source that says that "most" of the clerks offices were closed. Michigan observes two time zones here in the Upper Peninsula, and some clerks may not close at 5 p.m. Imzadi 1979 → 21:59, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
