Timothy Hinman
[edit]Hinman was a pioneer who constructed the Hinman Settler Road, a road used to settle Orleans County (central and east) at a time when there was no other access except some lame water transport in the wrong direction (running north) over tiny "rivers." He does need an article.Student7 (talk) 10:04, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
- Write it then; I'm not saying that he can't be notable. It's just that, since (1) being a road pioneer doesn't make you inherently notable [as does, say, being in the legislature or being a professional sportsperson], and (2) he doesn't have an article, he doesn't belong in this section, since it's for people whom we know to be notable. [edit]Just stumbled across a guy who made headlines after he died, by leaving $10 million to MoMA. Retiree and resident of Derby. Not notable, or not yet, anyway. Something for the future possibly. Can't find out much about him other than he was a stockbroker, which does not make him notable per se. He had $3 miilion worth of paintings in his house in Derby (!!!!) which were auctioned off by Sotheby's from Montreal, who had to pay $127,000 customs just to cart them across the border! Pronunciation
[edit]Is it pronounced "Durby" or "Darby"? I think that the IPA transcription for Derby should be in the article, /ˈdɜːrbi/ if the former or /ˈdɑːrbi/ if the latter. Kelisi (talk) 17:34, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
