First and then

[edit]

Hi LaukkuTheGreit, truth be told, I don't feel very strongly about words and signifiers at all! But to answer your question: to use words like "first" and "then" is often, in my opinion, unnecessary, plain and simple as that. In this case for instance, it of course wasn't ported and remade for other systems before its initial release. It's good that you have the reader in mind though. Similarly to words, I don't feel strongly about it and it's fine either way. But reading it back now is that "first as an eroge for the PC-98" can also be interpreted as if the "first" is referring to "an eroge" instead of the system, as if it wasn't an eroge later on. Catch my drift? But that ambiguity can be fixed regardless. It's Sunday night, I'm off to bed in a little while. Hope you have a good day or night. Thanks, and happy editing! soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 19:24, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry if I was a bit combative, I was in a cranky mood right then. But on the topic: Several of the later releases (especially the ones on consoles) had the sexual content removed, which is why I emphasised "eroge" only for the first release. Not all of them had it removed though, so maybe I had overdone the conciseness by not spelling that part out.--LaukkuTheGreit (TalkContribs) 20:20, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No need to apologize! I can't find an example in my contributions quickly, but I removed the word 'first' from other video game articles several times now. For some reason I see something along the lines of "the game was first announced...", I thought you noticed those edits. That kind of phrasing, in my opinion, is incorrect and would only make sense if there was a follow-up to the "first". First announced, but later canceled, first announced under this name, later with this subtitle, first in development by this studio, subsequently switched when a deal went through, etc.
Now I understand your partial revert even more, that the erotic elements were later trimmed/removed. Now reading back my original message from last night, I of course meant to say I was off to bed soon and would not have been able to reply quickly.
