1972 Olympics

[edit]

User DerbyCountyinNZ on at 00:37, 17 August 2007 inserted a claim that Quax did not participate in the 1972 Summer Olympics, which has remained undisputed for almost two years. I have found no support for this claim and at least two references indicating the Quax competed for New Zealand in the 5000m. In interviews Quax has stated that he watched the terrorist attack on the Isreali dorms in the Olympic village through his bathroom window. Does anyone have any support for the claim that he did not go to the 1972 Summer Olympics? Racepacket (talk) 14:49, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

According to the WP article on New Zealand at the 1972 Summer Olympics, Quax competed in the 5000m, being eliminated after running 14:35.2 in the heats. I think we should take the presence of a time in that article as stronger evidence that he did participate, compared to an unsupported claim to the contrary. I will remove the (apparently) mistaken claim from the article. Chris Loosley (talk) 10:04, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! I don't even remember making this edit, although it was 11 years ago! It's a shame someone didn't pull me up on this at the time, because now I have no idea where I got the idea that Quax missed the 72 Olympics. How embarrassing. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 04:13, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
