Checking against GA criteria

[edit]
GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
The article is "reasonably well written".
The lead does not fully summarise the article, omitting his marriage, also the Ratcliff quote in the lead is not present in the body - likewise the mention of his children. Please see WP:LEAD
I've added his marriage to the lead and the Ratcliff quote to the body. His children were already mentioned in the Personal life section. Armadillopteryxtalk 03:42, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There should probably be a Reception section summarising other people's comments about him, also a Legacy section if possible. The two could possibly be combined.
Added. What do you think? Armadillopteryxtalk 08:36, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Equally notable are his ballads celebrating the fearless fishermen and dark-skinned women of Bahia Is this a quote? If so it should be attributed and cited - otherwise it is POV.
It's not a quote. I'll be glad to rewrite it, but I'm having trouble understanding what sounds POV. The sentence that precedes this one explains that he is well-known for his samba pieces. In this sentence, I want to communicate that his sambas are not his only famous work, for his ballads about the fishermen and women of Bahia are also well-known. What kind of adjustment do you have in mind? Armadillopteryxtalk 03:42, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It is the weasel words "fearless" and drak-skinned", I have just removed them. Jezhotwells (talk) 11:10, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
where he performed, filmed a television show, and recorded an LP record. Which LP is that?
The source I got this fact from did not specify. (It says, "O sucesso o levou àquele país, onde fez shows, gravou um programa de TV e um LP, passando quatro meses em Los Angeles," which translates to "This success brought him to that country [the US], where, living in Los Angeles for four months, he performed concerts and recorded a TV program and an LP record.) Later today (or perhaps tomorrow), I'll reread a section of the biographical book I've cited to see if it gives more details about this. Armadillopteryxtalk 04:12, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, it would be good if it could be found for completeness.
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
References appear to be RS, all major statements are cited, no evidence of OR
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
Appears to cover major aspects, no unnecessary trivia
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
One query above about a sentence in the lead.
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
    Appears stable
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
One image used with suitable licenses and caption.
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
On hold for seven days for above issues to be addressed.
Query (not part of GA review): It is worth considering a short (10%) sound file to illustrate his music. details of this at WP:Creation and usage of media files#Audio usage. Jezhotwells (talk) 15:08, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea; thanks! I've uploaded and inserted a sound file. Armadillopteryxtalk 06:52, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I think this passes muster now, so happy to list as GA. Congratulations! Jezhotwells (talk) 11:10, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
