Wrong spelling of Ranishwar and some issue about official language

[edit]

I have made some minor changes in this Article as the spelling of Ranishwar[[1]] block was wrongly spelled as Raneshwar. One of the important thing is that Santhali is not the official language of Jharkhand. As any district can't have any specific official language, each district has to follow that language which is declared by the State. In the year of 1968 "Three Language Formula" [[2]] formulated by the Union Education Ministry of the Government of India. Santhili is not only the local language of this district there are huge number of Bengali people are living here from pre-independence. As it is well known that before independence Dumka was a part of WestBengal so number of Bengali is huge not only in Dumka district but also across Jharkhand state's different district. Number of Urdu people are also good. Different time different government came and they never resolved this issue that which language will be the local language. So at last what they have done that they have declared some languages as SECOND Language(Bengali, Urdu, Santhili). So please don't mention Santhili as official language. --Arindam Mukherjee 19:07, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

disambiguation

[edit]

There should be a disambiguation page between Dumka and the musical genre Dumka (musical genre), shouldn't it ? --87.160.10.248 (talk) 19:45, 21 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a hatnote, let me know if you think the wording needs tweaking. There are also articles about the railway station and political/administrative constituencies so I might also make a proper disambiguation page later. Dendrite1 (talk) 01:30, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Needs better grammar

[edit]

This article is in dire need of grammar repair. I've corrected the first few sections, but others still need to be fixed. The tone of the article also varies too much. Please help if you can. Thanks. Lekro (discuss) 23:00, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Irrelevant information? Promotion?

[edit]

I find that the article has too much irrelevant information crammed into it and promotes things that don't need to be promoted on Wikipedia. Here's a few excerpts to illustrate:

  • "...is another familiar and famous politician associated with Dumka." (Politics section) - Familiar? Famous? Are those words necessary?
  • "It is a beautiful place and picnic spot having natural beauty surrounded by hillocks and river." (Tourist section) - Beautiful? Beauty? How so? This section is tagged to indicate this promotion, but perhaps that needs to be extended to the entire article.
  • "The district has some good schools and colleges which have been imparting the value of education." (Education) Good? Aren't schools supposed to "impart education" anyway?

Banks in Dumka section - Does this really provide any information that belongs on Wikipedia? Banks in a town aren't that important.

This sort of information needs to be removed as it does not add to the article. Entire sections might need to be cut out.
