Article title

[edit]

Wht does this article have "Derby" with a capital "D" when all other derby article have it in lower case? Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 07:04, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Move made, as unlikely to be contentious. Redirect left, for bots to pick up corrections on links. --Dweller (talk) 09:34, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Graph of past league positions

[edit]

The old one was long out of date, been scanning through to see why exactly it was removed and the justification given was that the article is "about the match, not who has a bigger trophy cabinet". Fair enough, but if the clubs had been divisions apart for most of their history, would the match be significant? Colchester's a lot closer to Ipswich than Norwich is for example, so the graph helps explain to an extent why Norwich is seen as their main rival... There's a snippet in the text, but is it worth adding this back in to justify it or leave as is? - Cheers, JCJ of Burwell (Talk) 15:14, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'd rather have a prose summary of the situation. I'm unconvinced the chart really helps in this article. Blue Square Thing (talk) 21:28, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Merger Proposal

[edit]

Most sources award the Pride of Anglia title to the winner of the East Anglian derby, only when this derby doesn't occur are league positions used, an in that case, it's obvious what team is better anyway. Yes Colchester won it once, but it's definitely a Norwich/Ipswich thing. Joseph2302 (talk) 01:07, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at the Pride of Anglia article, the first two references are about the rivalry, and the other two are about Colchester's performance in 2007. Does the TV station award the trophy every year? Otherwise, with the hindsight of it being eight years down the track, it is looking like a tounge-in-cheek event poking fun at the lack of success that Norwich and Ipswich had that particular year.
So upon further consderation the analogy appears weak, because while there is no doubt that the Six Nations Championship is real, I have my doubts about competetion between all clubs in the region for the title of "Pride of Anglia" being an independently notable subject. Having said that, it would be great if Dweller, The Rambling Man or any other locals were able to provide more information on the topic to make that article viable. Without more details though, it may be more appropriate to have a short section at the end of the derby's article along the lines of "The winner of the derby claims the title "Pride of Anglia". However in 2007 both teams were ordinary, so a TV station bestowed the title upon Colchester that year." AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 02:59, 13 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • A few more sources that demonstrate this title isn't just about Norwich/Ipswich derby matches:

Map of respective locations

[edit]

Hello, the map on this article is incorrect - Norwich is south of Ipswich and closer to the coast. The respective locations should be switched. Cheers — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.225.30.107 (talk) 12:08, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers for that. someone had switched the locations around (not all vandalism gets noticed). I've fixed it now => Spudgfsh (Text Me!) 17:33, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stats table and intro paragraph

[edit]

Could someone give this a check please. These things get out of date so easily - the totals from the table and in the prose don't match. Thanks. Blue Square Thing (talk) 20:48, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The chart is a waste of time and overhead on keeping it aligned with reality. The bottom line is that the stats are fairly even and until such a time that they're not, there's little point in graphically illustrating a near-tie. Suggest we lose the pie chart and stick with just prose updates. The Rambling Man (talk) 21:00, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I eventually got around to getting rid of the pie chart - it's out of date and nearly even anyway. The stats are doing my head in however - can someone please check them? @The Rambling Man: @Dweller: or someone else? Thanks Blue Square Thing (talk) 16:02, 22 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've tried to find a decent source for it but can't. there are some but they are all different and none are from a reliable source. [6] [7] [8] => Spudgfsh (Text Me!) 16:26, 22 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's the sort of thing I was finding. Blue Square Thing (talk) 16:49, 22 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'll try and take a look later this week, after all the budgie fans have had their pound of flesh... The Rambling Man (talk) 17:59, 22 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - actually it's been kind of quiet. Maybe people are just used to beating you now **:-)** Blue Square Thing (talk) 13:14, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
