Old talk
[edit]Why is it said that this was a round-the-world trip when, based on the description, he didn't cross the int'l date line or come through the Americans and western Europe? Maybe circumfrentially it was around the world, but that doesn't fit into the average person's definition of "around the world". Mcnattyp (talk) 21:14, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Exaggerations
[edit]At least a pair of panegyrical exaggerations in this sentence:
As this was the first dubious visit by such an important foreign princeunbalanced opinion to Japan…
It's not self-evident that Imperial Russia was of primary importance to Japan by 1890. And I'm not sure that Nicky was the first foreign prince to visit Japan since Matthew C. Perry forced Japan to end the policy of self-isolation in 1854. Anyway, since Meiji Restoration in 1868, which finally opened Japan the doors into the world diplomacy, lots of princes may have dropped their unofficial visits there. A scent of pro-emperor’s bias may be noted in the other parts of the article… well, I hope an accident in Japan when a policeman stroke Nickolas (for what?) should be mentioned here to provide a balanced point of view upon the subject. Photos from Eastern journey of Nicholas II
[edit]The article mentions that over 200 photos from the journey were taken by Vladimir Medeleyev. My question is if and where they can be seen? Are the photos printed in any of the mentioned books, and / or are there original photographic prints available in museum collections? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eboro (talk • contribs) 11:24, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
