Deleted unsourced, copyvio[edit]

I deleted the unsourced information which appears to be a verbatim copy of Elizabeth Nickson's bio at her own website. I've looked for wp:rs to build a bio from (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL) but haven't found any yet so left the article as a stub until sources can be found.--Work permit (talk) 02:59, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's OK to use self-published material, under certain restrictions.
The material from her Web site might have been a copyvio, was not unsourced, because it was attributable to her Web site. Maurreen (talk) 16:01, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In my mind, I'm sure she's notable. But I can't find anyone (ie reliable third party sources), other then her through her website, to attest to her background and bio. I do hope you or someone can.--Work permit (talk) 05:44, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have any reason to doubt the bio on her Web site.
There's a good chance that her work, and her byline, could be found on the sites of publications she has written for. That would attest to the fact that she has written for those organizations. But she's not important enough to me to do more work on this article than the little I've already done.
My point was just that the article was not unsourced.
My understanding is that some people have stripped articles of a number of statements, because those statements were not satisfactorily attributed. Then a number of those articles are proposed for deletion, on the basis of no notability asserted. I do not agree with that practice. Maurreen (talk) 06:03, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As do I. I removed the content because it was a verbatim copy from a copyright source. I left the stub with the hope that someone can paraphrase the bio. I'm sure there must be some jacket cover that provides similar material, which makes it an even better third party source. Thanks for your edits, as you see I reformatted them.--Work permit (talk) 06:43, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I'm glad you're not one of "those people." :) Maurreen (talk) 10:13, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
