Red card
[edit]Is there any encyclopaedic value in describing a red card incident? Every goal, every red card gets press coverage: I suspect that this inclusion is due more to the profile of the team offended against than any intrinsic notability of the incident, and that in a short time, there will be no apparent reason why this is being reported on when other events are not. Kevin McE (talk) 20:11, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- I agree... A goal or a card happens often, and isn't necessary to mention if it has no further value than just noting it (that's what have statistics for)! If this was his first red card or his 50th, it could be worth mentioning. But the only reason for mentioning his tackle on Possebon, would be that he claimed innocence after committing an obvious fault... lil2mas (talk) 20:56, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- Also agree. Unless it is some kind of major injury to the player, such as what happened to Eduardo, there is no point in mentioning it. Hubschrauber729 (talk) 22:52, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- The Eduardo injury wasn't down to the extent of the injury, but the sheer amount of commentary that came out of it (possibly down to the injury and Wenger's comments afterwards, later retracted). I think it's WP:UNDUE if there's not significant coverage about the injury. x42bn6 Talk Mess 13:37, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
