It should probably be mentioned that the album is named after a 1970 Japanese experimenal film by Shuji Terayama.
I agree, that film should also have its own entry created.
Rename this article Emperor Tomato Ketchup (album)
[edit]The title Emperor Tomato Ketchup should be reserved to the original movie, not the album. --89.226.117.72 (talk) 17:41, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Removed unverified claim
[edit]Based on advice at ANI, I have removed the claim "The film is banned in many countries, considered child pornography.", which was cited to a random 2015 Canadian court filing which, although it mentions the film and says that a police officer had once said that, based on description only, one or two scenes in the film were "bordeline child pornography", the court filing says nothing about the film being "banned in many countries". 64.64.172.66 (talk) 01:31, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
- Good catch! This film could use a longer § Reception and some review of Japanese language sources, though. Psiĥedelisto (talk • contribs) please always ping! 02:28, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
it was banned from being screened in austin tx and the court document says that upon screening it was the line not to be crossed and that the "The film Emperor Tomato Ketchup is no longer available." meaning it was banned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Guydebordgame (talk • contribs) 02:54, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Guydebordgame: The film was shown in NYC as late as 2013: [1]. Furthermore, the Canadian case says that the officer's assessment of ETK was wrong but reasonable given [what he knew at the time]; i.e. it is not considered CSAM under Canadian law. If the film was ever banned from screening in Austin, I can't find any evidence of that. Psiĥedelisto (talk • contribs) please always ping! 02:21, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
