Move discussion in progress
[edit]There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:MS Symphony of the Seas which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 16:04, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
Name
[edit]The ship's name is changed, shouldn't the article name be changed as well. Just something to consider MAXMcow (talk) 05:01, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
Requested move 14 June 2021
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: No consensus. The ship has earned most of its notability with the old name. Heck, a proof that renaming actually took place has not even been presented; possibly it is too soon to tell. No such user (talk) 13:15, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
Empress of the Seas → MS Empress – No longer owned by Royal Carribbean, was sold to Cordelia Cruises. Angelgreat (talk) 17:04, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 03:37, 14 June 2021 (UTC) —Relisting. No such user (talk) 12:55, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- Is this name change well documented? I only see one citation in the article, and it is a bit vague about this renaming. 162 etc. (talk) 17:56, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. Probably just premature, but we do not move pages based simply on official rebranding and primary sources. We need to see the uptake of the name in reliable secondary sources. This will probably happen quite quickly in the case of a ship such as this, and see WP:NAMECHANGES, but we need the evidence. Andrewa (talk) 19:56, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
So, can the page be moved or will it stay or is there no concensus? Angelgreat (talk) 00:14, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]I note the page history of the proposed target
20:26, 29 December 2018 EmausBot talk contribs block m 49 bytes −3 Bot: Fixing double redirect to Empress of the Seas rollback: 1 editundo Tag: Redirect target changed 06:15, 17 March 2016 HenSti talk contribs block 52 bytes +52 HenSti moved page MS Empress to MS Empress of the Seas over redirect
so there is already a history of bold moves. Andrewa (talk) 19:59, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
- Well, some Wikipedia articles also have multiple move logs, so it's no different. Angelgreat (talk) 14:14, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
