Name[edit]

Why Ethylamine? Why not use Ethanamine, the IUPAC name, as the main page? 86.157.2.7 (talk) 22:42, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

Wikipedia has a policy to title its articles using common names (see Wikipedia:Article_titles#Common_names for details). To follow this policy, Wikipedia chemists have decided that article titles should not use IUPAC names where a more prevalent common name for a chemical compound exists. "Ethylamine" is simply more common than "ethanamine". -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:05, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
